From November 24 – 25 Center For Girls took part in several activities for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Here is what we have been up to.
On November 25, we hosted a booth at the Annual International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women at Rajabhat University in Chiang Rai. We displayed information and hosted games to educate people about child’s rights. Over 200 youth attended this provincial event.
From November 25 – 26, women leaders and Center For Girls met with the Local Administration Organisation (LAOs), we discussed supporting the work of women and children and advocated for policy that supports gender equality and women’s and children’s work. The women leaders also spoke about the problems that occur within their community.
Then, on 24-26 November, Center For Girls hosted an awareness campaign around villages in the Si Don Chai and Krueng sub-districts. We walked and gave out calendars educating the public about violence against women and children.
We had a social media campaign with Chiang Khong youth, speaking on how they can participate in eliminating violence against children. Their statement was posted on our Facebook and Instagram on November 25. This coincided with an empowerment video on gender equality and reducing violence against women.
